[*Addendum, Nov 21/24. The problem with leaving this ‘toon for such a long time is I’d forgotten everything going on in my head when I sketched it. The over (outward) and under (inward) installation of the toilet paper rolls is a statement about political polarisation. In fact there are people who have stronger views about the way a roll of toilet paper should be installed than about political issues or candidates. I’ve heard confessions, one just the other day, from people who will flip the roll around when using the can in other people’s houses! ]
My husband is a) hard of hearing, and b) “unwinds” by listening to US media. So what I’m saying is that the TV blared every night leading up to the 2024 US election. As it blared every night leading up to the 2020 US election. (Why it has taken this long for me to purchase noise cancelling headphones?)
Anyway. I’d forgotten that, back in 2020, I made the following sketch expressing my feelings about being subject to the US election lead-up during covid lockdowns. Aka, double captivity.
